When you’re playing DayZ, the rinse-repeat cycle of surviving and scavenging can get a little bit boring. Adding new sights and locations to explore can be a great way to refresh the experience.
A large number of castle ruins and keeps are scattered across Chernarus. These were built at the turn of the 11th and 12th Centuries by Duke Kozlov to protect his dukedom from raids from its northern neighbors.
1. Map
The sandbox survival game Day Z was born from a mod for ArmA 2 and has fostered a vibrant community of players and developers. The modding community has ported the game to many other ArmA 2 maps, but in recent years it has become a regular sight to see comments asking for the creation of a new official Day Z map.
While I have no doubt that a new official Day Z map would be very welcome, what I do think is more important for the long-term health of the game is the continued evolution of the Chernarus map. There are a number of excellent mods that make the process of exploring and discovering new locations in the massive 225 km2 Chernarus map fun and exciting.
For starters, the ever-popular Winter Chernarus mod is a great way to add a new dimension to the game. The mod takes the endless rolling hills and vacant farmhouses of Chernarus and gives them a liberal coating of snow. This icy landscape offers a whole new atmosphere to the map and can make it feel more like an isolated post-apocalyptic world that is a little colder than the average Sunday in August.
The Nature Overhaul mod is another great mod for making the Chernarus map more interesting. It changes the game to a Last Of Us-esque style of exploration and makes the overgrown scenery fit more with the end-of-the-world theme that Day Z is trying to achieve. The mod also brings in many new wrecks and roadblocks that can be used for cover and a host of ghouls and other strange creatures that will help to keep the game feeling fresh and new wotpost .
2. Roads
If you’re going to get the most out of Chernarus, it’s worth learning how to use the roads while using Dayz cheats. It’s not only a great way to get around, but it can also give you a sense of the map’s layout. The best way to do this is by finding a vehicle and driving around, but you can also look up some information online.
Before the outbreak, Chernarus produced many natural resources including wood and different mined materials. These factories can still be found throughout the game and can provide you with valuable loot if you take the time to search them out.
You’ll find roads all over the map, but they’re not always easy to navigate. Some are closed off by military encampments, while others are littered with abandoned cars. For this reason, it’s important to have a vehicle in your possession at all times. Not only will it save you time, but it can also help you avoid hostile encounters.
While it might be tempting to rush into towns, hamlets, and clearings in DayZ without doing any reconnaissance, this can lead to dangerous situations. A well-armed player can easily spot you through bushes, and you’ll be more likely to be killed if you enter a fight unprepared. Performing some recon before approaching any town, hamlet, or clearing will ensure that you have a weapon to defend yourself with in case things go wrong.
It’s also a good idea to stock up on a morphine injection before heading into any situation, especially if you’re playing on a busy server. Morphine injections can be used to treat a broken leg or arm and will keep you conscious while you’re on the move.
3. Cities
During the course of your adventures, you’ll likely encounter a few cities and towns. These are usually focal points for PvP and offer the best loot in the game. Aside from Cherno, where most players spawn, the two other major locations are Elektrozavodsk and Belaya Polyana (also known as White Meadow). The latter was added with the Stable release of the game and is completely surrounded by high rocky mountains.
Aside from being the hub of a variety of different activities, these cities are home to a lot of interesting architecture and scenery. For example, many buildings display the classic neo-classical or baroque styles that are unique to Chernarus, while some have more modern features like skyscrapers and tower blocks. Of course, there are also some examples of Soviet architecture as well.
Throughout the city centers, you’ll find a mixture of people including civilians, soldiers, and police officers. However, it is important to remember that not all citizens are safe and not all townspeople are friendly. Therefore, you must always be on your guard when in these areas.
Chernarus has a rich history that dates back to the 13th century. During this time, the Kozub Dynasty usurped several dukedoms to create the unified state of Chernarus. The country would go on to participate in the Great Patriotic War and the Russian Civil War, with sacrifices made by its citizens evidenced by numerous war memorials across the country.
In 2009, the country would suffer a civil war led by the Chedaki movement, which sought to bring about socialism within Chernarus. This prompted the country to seek help from the United States and Allied Forces.
4. Military Bases
The fictional post-Soviet country of Chernarus in DayZ is home to a deadly virus that has turned the majority of its population into frenzied infected, and as one of the few survivors left, players must explore the ravaged landscape and gather food, water, weapons, and medicine. They can also find vehicles, which can be used to get around the vast map more quickly than on foot.
The Department of Defense (DoD) operates hundreds of bases that house thousands of military and civilian workers and support the mission of the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy. In 2016, $25 billion—about 4 percent of DoD’s budget—was spent on base operations support (BOS) services, which include providing housing, utilities, and grounds maintenance.
Many bases have their own police, firefighting, and emergency response forces. They are also home to various adult learning facilities, including libraries and even satellite college campuses. For service members, being part of the military is a lifelong commitment, but that doesn’t mean they have to put their own personal growth on hold.
Some bases are huge, such as Fort Benning in Georgia and Alabama, where basic training is conducted for the elite fighting force known as the US Army Infantry Brigade Combat Teams. Others are more intimate, such as the Naval Weapons Station Earle in Virginia, which handles ammunition and has about 13,000 employees. Some bases are on islands, including the Sazan Island Base in Albania, which has an elaborate connection of underground tunnels, and others have a distinctly unique appearance, like the 50-story-high Russian Woodpecker radar installation in Hauptallee, Germany.
5. Loot
The biggest draw of DayZ for most players is the chance to loot. The game is filled with countless buildings and structures to explore, all of which have the potential to contain a wide variety of items. However, the ensuing chaos can often make it difficult to pinpoint where all this gear is hiding. That’s why using a good map is sccbuzz vital.
Fortunately, there are quite a few resources available online to help players navigate the huge map of Chernarus. A popular website and smartphone app called iZurvive is an excellent resource to use, displaying all the major towns on the Chernarus map in an easy-to-read format. Using the map is an essential way to ensure you’re not spending your entire game wandering around aimlessly trying to find a town.
While there are a lot of great locations to visit and loot in Chernarus, the best spot by far is Tisy Military Base. This massive two-square-kilometer installation is the gold standard in military loot, featuring dozens of military buildings and a massive amount of gear to search through. Of course, the contaminated gas that fills the area makes it treacherous and requires a full-body NBC suit to enter.
Livonia is DayZ’s newest region, and while it doesn’t quite match up to the mighty Chernarus, it offers a fresh start for new players. The large island map is packed with hidden locations and features balanced loot, ensuring PvE and PvP-minded players alike can find something to keep them interested.
